Start from the file, without giving the extension your browser.

Search the 1,000+ tool catalog or explicitly choose one local file in the toolbar popup. Version 1.1 reads only metadata and at most the first 64 KB in popup memory, then recommends a canonical Solarc tool or Magic Drop. It does not read the page you are viewing, upload the file, or hide file bytes inside a destination URL.

File-first routing, not file transfer

The popup recognizes a bounded set of useful starting signals for PDF, common web images, valid or broken JSON, CSV, TSV and YAML. Low-confidence files fall back to Magic Drop. The destination deliberately asks you to select the file again, so the extension never needs a cross-origin file handoff.

permissions: [] — no tabs, history, clipboard, cookies, downloads or storage permission.
No host_permissions — the extension cannot inspect arbitrary websites.
No content scripts — nothing is injected into pages.
No background worker — no hidden always-on process.
Explicit local file only — a standard file picker reads at most a 64 KB prefix after you choose one file; no upload, persistence, analytics or filename/file-byte URL serialization.

Install from the downloaded ZIP

1. Unzip the downloaded package into a folder you control. The package contains the complete popup HTML/CSS/JS, manifest and icon for inspection.
2. Chrome / Chromium: open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, then select that folder.
3. Firefox testing: open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox, choose Load Temporary Add-on, then select manifest.json.

This separate file-first package is not claimed as published in Chrome Web Store / Firefox Add-ons. Store publication requires separate developer accounts and review.
